Randolph County folks are fans of Briles Oil & Gas!

“Great business and we’ve enjoyed every minute of working with them. The staff in the office is always friendly to speak with and the drivers are great, too, when they come out for delivery. Prices are lower than most and service is A++. Made the switch a couple years back after using two other local companies and have been very pleased with Briles vs. the other guys.” — N.C.

“Love this company! They are always there when you need them. They go above and beyond to give great service and make sure their customers are well taken care of. This company has been a HUGE BLESSING to our family!” — Dana E.

Randolph County: Deep roots in history, NASCAR and more

The first European settlers of what is now Randolph County were English Quakers along the Haw, Eno and Deep rivers. Asheboro, the county seat, is the geographic center of the state. The county is part of the Piedmont region, with many communities near the larger cities of Greensboro and Winston-Salem, as well as the furniture hub of the High Point/Thomasville area.

Randolph County is the home base for a NASCAR dynasty, the Petty family. Lee Petty, the patriarch, participated in the first-ever NASCAR race, held in Charlotte in 1948. His racing career ended with a serious crash in the 1961 Daytona 500. By then his team, created with sons Richard and Maurice, Petty Enterprises, was a major player in NASCAR. Richard went on to have a legendary NASCAR career. Nicknamed “The King,” Richard Petty raced from 1958 to 1992, and won a then-record seven NASCAR series championships, seven Daytona 500s, a record 27 wins in one season in 1967 and finished with 200 career wins. Richard’s son, Kyle Petty, raced in NASCAR from 1985–2008, winning the Coca-Cola 600, NASCAR’s longest race at 600 miles, in 1987. Kyle’s son Adam Petty, a promising driver just getting started at NASCAR’s top level, the NASCAR Cup Series, died in 2000 in a crash during a practice session in New Hampshire at age 19.
